What to expect at your Appointment

Your appointment letter

This tells you the date and time of your appointment. Your check in time to allow for administration is 15 minutes prior to your appointment time.

If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so that another patient can use this appointment time.

Lines can be very busy, so please be patient. The department is open from 8:30am to 4:45pm.

Before you attend

It is important that your ears are clear of wax. If your ears have not been checked recently, please see your doctor or practice nurse or arrange an appointment with the ENT/Hearing Centre nurse by ringing the number given above.

What you need to bring

When you come to the Hearing Centre, please remember to bring your:

  • Appointment letter
  • Hearing aid and mould if you have one
  • Hearing aid record book if you have one (brown book)

What to do when you arrive

When you arrive at the ENT/Hearing Centre, please go straight to the Hearing Centre receptionist in the middle area of the reception desk. It is important that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the time for your appointment to allow for check in and administration. If you arrive late for your appointment, it may have to be rescheduled to minimise disruption to services for patients who have attended on time.

We will make every effort to see you at your appointment time. If you are kept waiting, we will tell you why.

As we are involved in training audiologists, you may be seen by a student for your appointment. Please let us know if you find this unacceptable.

Patient facilities

There is a vending machine that can provide hot and cold drinks. If you need something to eat there is a WRVS tea-bar at the beginning of the Outpatient corridor (open Monday –Friday). There is also the 'Caf� One' restaurant and coffee bar inside the new Main Entrance.

Smoking

The Trust has a No-Smoking Policy, there are however designated smoking areas.

Mobile phones

Please switch off your mobile phone when you go in for your appointment.

Fire alarm tests

These are carried out every Thursday morning. Staff will tell you if you need to leave the building. Please keep your personal belongings with you at all times.
